Phonics 

 

Today, we have been learnt  f  and have learnt that ff are two letters that make the same sound in some words such as 

 

huff 

puff 

 

We practised writing these words, segmenting the sounds to spell them. 

*Can you have a go at writing the letter 'f'

**Can you have a go at writing a cvc word with 'f' at the beginning, such as fan/fit

** Can you think of a sentence, using one of these words? 

 

Maths 

This week, we will be recapping 1 less than a given number.

We have started using 1 less in rhymes and songs, such as 10 green bottles and 5 currant buns. There are links below to versions of the songs.

**Can you think of 1 less than a number from 1-10? 

 

This week, we have been learning about crocodiles. Over this week you may like to: 

*paint or draw a crocodile picture.

*Make a crocodile model from construction toys, items from your recycling or from playdough. 

*Use the National Geographic website to find out some interesting facts about them. 

*Write down your facts as sentences.

Maths 

Listen to the song '10 in a bed' using the clip below. 

Find 10 teddies or toys and act out the story. Each time a teddy falls off the bed, can you use 'one less' to describe how many teddies are left? (eg "one less than 8 is 7) 

***You may like to record your answers as number sentences  eg 10-1=9

Recap 1 less, using the '5 Currant Bun' song (link shared on 11th). 

(you will need to draw a 5 frame before completing the activity)

**Can you complete the reasoning question below? Explain your answer to a grown-up.
