    Welcome to Reception!

We have had a fantastic start to the year. The children have settled in so well and have enjoyed getting to know their new friends and teachers. We are becoming more familiar with our new routines and are developing our independence-particularly at lunchtime. We are really looking forward to learning together this year smiley

    Our new topic is....

    Marvellous Me!

Good to be me - Sing Up

To support our 'Marvellous Me' topic, we have been learning 1,2,3 Good to Be Me! See if you can sing along!

    Our Feelings

This week, we have used 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas to help us to talk about different feelings. We read the book and discussed how each feeling-sad, happy, angry, scared, love, calm-is represented by a different colour. We then made our own 'Feelings monster' to represent how we were feeling. We will continue to use the Colour Monster throughout the year to help us to talk about our emotions.

    Our Bodies

This week, we have really enjoyed learning about our bodies. We discussed a powerpoint which taught us some interesting facts! We have looked at Usborne Book's Your Body to help us to find out more information. We were able to name some of the parts of the body during a group activity. We looked closely at our bones on x ray photographs and re created Miss Wilson's hand with playdough!  Reception were keen to play doctors in our role play area, so we added lots of bandages and equipment. We have been helping each other to feel better!
