St Bart's News

The latest information about school and our community.

Dear Families and Friends,

As the World Cup begins, it is a joyful opportunity to celebrate the sporting talents that God has given. Football at this level reminds us of dedication, teamwork and perseverance, qualities we can all grow in. It is also encouraging to see how many players have been about their Christian faith. Christians in Sport report that around three quarters of professional clubs have Christians in their first team squads and across the tournament, many players are using their platform to give thanks to God. England’s squad has even been called the “God Squad”, with players such as Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guéhi known for praying together. Brazil’s Alisson Becker and the USA’s Christian Pulisic have also spoken about how their faith guides them. Many others across the world are doing the same.

In our worship this week, Andy helped us understand Jesus’ story of the "Pearl of great price." Just as a merchant searches carefully for something truly valuable, we are reminded to seek what really matters. For many players, the World Cup is a precious goal, something they have worked towards for years. Yet Jesus encourages us to look even deeper, towards treasures that last forever. As 1 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Whether on the pitch or in the classroom, we can all use our gifts well.

A quick note that class photographs will be taken on Tuesday morning, so please ensure children come to school in their best school uniform, looking smart and ready to smile.

On Friday, we will be holding a non uniform day to support our School Fayre on 27th June. Children are welcome to come dressed in the colours of their favourite World Cup team, or simply in their own style.

So as the tournament kicks off, enjoy the matches, cheer loudly, and perhaps practise those playground skills, our own future star may be closer than we think.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Restall & The St Bart’s Team
