St Bart's News

The latest information about school and our community.

Dear Families and Friends,

This week, our focus has been on consideration. You may have heard your children repeating our phrase, “See a need, meet it!”, which has been echoing around school. It is a simple idea, but a powerful one. While we all have our own needs, we are encouraging every child, and indeed every adult, to notice others and respond with kindness and care.

This value touches every part of school life, including the busy times at the start and end of the day. A small act of consideration can make a big difference to everyone’s safety and wellbeing. Please remember to use parking spaces appropriately, particularly those designated for disabled badge holders, drive slowly on the school site, avoid double-parking, and help keep entrances clear.

In particular, we ask that families do not crowd the doors when staff are dismissing or receiving children. This is an important safeguarding matter. Staff need to focus carefully on where each child is and who they are going home with. Giving a little space and saving conversations for a later moment helps ensure that every child is safely in the right place. A little distance goes a long way.

Our words matter too. By speaking politely and using a calm, respectful tone, we model the kind of behaviour we want our children to learn. They are always watching, always learning, and often copying more than we realise. As Proverbs reminds us, “Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body” (Proverbs 16:24). A kind word, like a well-timed umbrella, can brighten even the rainiest day.

We ended the week with our Achievement Assembly, marking the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. His life is a wonderful example of curiosity, dedication and achievement. We encouraged the children to think about all they might accomplish in the next 90 years and beyond. Whether young or old, we can all keep growing, learning and supporting one another to do our very best.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in making our school a thoughtful, safe and caring community.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Restall & The St Bart’s Team
