Updated September 2026 (reported to DfE 30/09/2026)
From the 1st September 2013, the Government released extra money to schools to improve the quality and breadth of Sport and PE provision.
This funding, the use of which will be inspected by Ofsted, is to "increase participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of."
We intend that the money is used to ensure long-term impact. To do this we invest in staff training and local competitions, as well as purchasing schemes of work and equipment for the children. Our provision is reviewed regularly and any newer sporting activities are introduced as they become relevant and engaging for our children. We are often looking at other providers and opportunities to enhance and resources our PE curriculum, and extra curricular activities. Our House System is being used to develop friendly competition and participation within school. We are also exploring opportunities with other local primaries to establish more sporting competitions.
Our school site offers many opportunities for further PE and sport provision. Old and tired PE and sports equipment is being replenished as part of an ongoing programme, and we are currently working with St. Stephen's as we develop our shared resources.
Our school received £17,670 in PE and Sport Premium funding during the 2025-26 academic year. All funding was spent (with a small additional contribution from school funds) to improve the quality, breadth and sustainability of PE, sport and physical activity provision for pupils. Funding was used in line with grant conditions to build staff expertise, increase participation, broaden opportunities and enhance competitive sport.
During 2025-26, pupils benefited from a range of additional sporting and physical activity opportunities, including specialist coaching, competitive events, dance and performance activities, School Games participation and targeted support for vulnerable groups. Investment in professional development has continued to strengthen staff expertise and support the long-term sustainability of PE and sport provision at St Bart's.
Investment in staff training, School Games participation and specialist coaching has increased staff confidence and expertise, helping to ensure that improvements to PE, sport and physical activity provision can be sustained for future cohorts of pupils.
