Friday 12th March 2021.

 

The children have settled well and are getting familiar again with school routines and expectations. They have looked incredibly hard and should be very proud of what they have achieved this week.

This week, we have been learning Grace Darling and the journey she went on to rescue survivors after a steam ship crashed into the rocks on the Farne Islands. We have written fact files. Then, we have been putting ourselves in her situation and thinking what she might of been feeling on that stormy journey. 

Friday 19th March 2021.

 

This week the children have continued to work very hard. They have had a positive attitude to challenges they have been set and I have loved seeing how excited they have been for the new learning.

 

 

This week in maths we have been looking at teen numbers. We matched numerals to quantities of objects. Then we worked out what one more and one less than a given number is. We then tried some tricky problem solving questions!

Highlights from this week.

Friday 26th March 2021.

 

In English, we have been looking at the characters from the text Little Red Riding Hood. The children worked so well in their groups, discussing the different qualities of each characters and sorting the adjectives collectively. A super job done by all!

 

This week we started 'show and tell' time in our class. Each day a different colour group will have a allocated time to share news from home or show a special object from home; this could be a souvenir, achievement, interesting object from home.

Monday-Red group, Tuesday-Orange group, Wednesday-Yellow group, Thursday-Green group and Friday-Blue group.

Thursday 1st April 2021.

The children bark rubbing, as part of our science lessons looking at trees.

Easter fun!

     

 

We had great fun hunting for eggs and were then rewarded with chocolate ones, when we returned to the classroom!

 

 

We enjoyed sampling hot cross buns. They were delicious! 

What a great end to a unusual term.The children have settled so well back into school and we have been working up until the last minute, every moment has been utilised! The children deserve their holidays so much and I can't wait to see them back for the summer term!

Friday 22nd April 2021.

The children in Class One have returned back after the Easter break in a wonderful spirit! They have been ready to learn, shown respectful behaviour and shown great enthusiasm for our new animal topic.

Friday 30th April 2021.

It has been another super week here in Class 1, we have not stopped learning and having fun!

This week, in maths we have been looking at subtraction and the children have been using equipment to solve subtraction problems.

 

    

 

 

 

French.

Camembert says "bonjour". Camembert is our French bear. He has been helping the children practise their conversations this week.

 

The children took part in an extra 'active' sessions this week, we practised our keep fit moves and burned some energy!

Friday 7th May 2021.

This week we have had 100% attendance, which is super! I hope this continues for as long as possible because it is lovely to have everyone together and participate in all the new learning.

This week we had our first visit to the computer suite for a few months. We have been looking at the text 'The pig in the pond' By Martin Waddell and Jill Barton. The children created their own pages from the story.

Friday 14th May 2021.

This week in PE we have been learning to balance on 'points' and 'patches' of our bodies.

  

We had our first Coding lesson in ICT today.

A huge highlight of each week is our music lessons with Mrs Clarke, in music this week we have been learning about rhythm. We even wrote our own rhythm patterns using music notes!

Friday 21st May 2021.

Today we managed to time our PE lesson right and avoided the rain!

Friday 28th May 2021. 

In English this week we have been looking at the book 'The Great Pet Sale' By Mick Inkpen. The children have created some wonderful lists of items they would have in their pet shop, created super wanted posters when the animals escaped and a lot created their brilliant creatures in our ICT lesson. 

This week in French we have been learning to say the different colours. I have uploaded the slides below to practise at home.

Friday 11th June 2021.

This week in Science we have been looking at wild plants. We have been creating fact files and we went on a hunt around the school grounds. 

 

We had our visit whole class visit to the Trim Trail and the children had a wonderful time, we have decided that we are going it make it a weekly event!

Friday 25th June 2021.

In our ICT lesson this week we used a new app called 'Kudo game lab'. Many of the children picked up the strategies very quickly and had a lot of fun!

    

 

We have been looking at season of Summer as part of our Geography lessons. The children then went on to create some wonderful pictures using collage materials to form a beautiful window display.

   

A Super impressive track creation! (I think it contained all the lego boards in our classroom!)

The Children loved being able to sing again in music this week!
