Following the closure of school buildings to pupils, from 23rd March 2020 until the partial and full reopenings in June and September, the vast majority of children missed a significant part of their schooling.
As part of the Government's initiative to support schools during the academic year 2020-21, a "catch-up premium" was promised. At St Bart's, we made plans to use the vast majority of this funding by supporting those children who have particular needs, especially during the Autumn term 2020. A teacher and a teaching assistant have been given specific responsibility to support these children, identified by class teachers, and to monitor the progress they made.
The intended impact of direct teaching and support should accelerate the progress made by the children.
