RE with Mrs. C!
Happy Thursday year 5! I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas resting and spending precious time with your families.
Just before Christmas, in RE, we were thinking about whether God could be both HOLY and LOVING. We then looked at what Christians believe about how we live our lives and compared this with ideas from people who don't believe in God.
Christians believe that God gave us the 10 commandments to help us live our lives. Can you remember what they are?
Use your research skills to find them! If you get stuck there is a hint at the bottom of this section!
I would like you to write your own 10 commandments, you might include some original commands or you might not.
Remember you are giving people advice about how to live their lives.
Send your work to Miss Orr and she can then share this with me. I can't wait to read your ideas!

Right year 5 time to move! We'll be working on keeping you fit and active this half term using boxing based fitness moves.
Boxers need to be incredibly fit and one of the ways they maintain their fitness is by skipping/jump rope. Watch the videos below to be inspired by Anthony Joshua and Floyd Mayweather.
I know you are all expert skippers - I was there at the skipping festival! Grab those skips and remind yourself of all those skipping moves.
Next step is to rebuild your skipping stamina - can you skip continuously for 1 minute/2 minutes/3 minutes? Try to practice for at least 10-15 minutes each day for the next week. I'm joining in too!
If you don't have a skipping rope or can't borrow one, please email Miss Orr who will let me know and I can drop one off at your home for you to borrow.
Happy skipping!

Science Week 1
Hi Class 5,
Happy New Year. Our new topic in Science is Earth and Space.
A long time ago many people believed that the Earth was flat. There is evidence for and against this theory and I would like you to review this evidence and then write a short explanation text which includes evidence for the two different theories before writing a conclusion based on what you think about the shape of the Earth. Use the attached template and sentence starters to help you to write your explanation.
Once you have completed your explanation text then there is a fun word search for you to have a go at to help you with vocabulary for this topic.
